• Breast Surgery

  Women who are dissatisfied with the size, projection or shape of their breasts may turn to cosmetic breast surgery as a means to enhance the appearance of their breasts. Whether the patient wishes to correct an anatomic issue or one that has occurred over time, Portland’s Dr. Elisa Burgess performs a variety of breast surgeries including: Breast Augmentation A breast augmentation procedure uses saline, round silicone, or shaped silicone implants that increase the size or improve the shape and projection of the breasts. Many options exist when it comes to breast implant augmentation. Dr. Burgess is experienced and can guide patients through the necessary steps, as well as provide complimentary breast implant sizing and Crisalix 3D simulator. Breast Lift or Breast Lift with Augmentation Patients who struggle with breasts that have begun to sag over time turn to breast lift (or mastopexy) as a means to provide a more youthful appearance. Using excision and sometimes liposuction, excess skin and tissue are removed and the breast and nipple are lifted to achieve the desired result. Sometimes patients need more volume and an implant is added to the lift for augmentation. Breast Reduction Breast reduction is a surgical procedure offered to patients who struggle with overly large, heavy breasts, which can also lead to painful symptoms. Using techniques similar to a breast lift, Dr. Burgess removes more excess skin and breast tissue to aid in the patient’s symptoms. It also provides a more slender silhouette which helps in selection of clothing and bras. Breast Reconstruction Breast Cancer reconstruction is a specialized group of surgical procedures which recreate the breast, following a mastectomy or lumpectomy. There are several different options to recreate the breast and Dr. Burgess guides her patients towards the best option for their individual situation with an optimal outcome. Breast Implant Removal Breast implant removal also known as explantation, removes implants from breast augmentation or reconstruction patients. Breast implants do not last forever, so even women who are happy with their enhancement must have their implants removed and replaced multiple times throughout their lives.

• Facial Plastic Surgery

  Facial Plastic Surgery Your face is often the first thing people see when they meet you, and Dr. Burgess offers a range of facial procedures to help you bring out your best features. Whether you’re looking to shave off a few years by minimizing wrinkles or are looking to decrease the size of protruding ears, Dr. Burgess has the experience and skill to help you achieve a beautiful result. Eyelid Surgery Bags under the eyes and drooping eyelids can make a person appear older and more tired than they actually are. Through small incisions, Dr. Burgess will remove the excess skin and tissue that cause this worn out appearance to reveal the revitalized individual underneath. Brow Lift Using small incisions, Dr. Burgess will “lift” the skin above the brow, which may sag over time, leading to a heavy eyebrow appearance and excess skin over the eyes. Following a brow lift, expect to look more awake in your appearance. Facelift and Necklift Sagging jowls and “turkey neck” lead to an aged appearance, in which you look older than you feel. Dr. Burgess performs face and neck lift procedures to update your appearance. Through incisions along the hairline and possibly around the ear, she will remove excess tissue and tighten the skin. The look is still you and natural appearing, but more youthful and refreshed. Silhouette InstaLift We are now able to offer a different approach to lifting the facial skin without surgery. Silhouette InstaLift helps reverse the signs of facial aging with immediate, natural-looking results. A great option for both men and women who do not want the downtime associated with surgery. Ear Pinning Surgery Protruding ears, which often show up in children as young as four years old, may be troublesome for an individual and may lead to teasing and self-confidence issues. Through a series of techniques, Dr. Burgess is able to shape and pin back the ears to make them more aesthetically pleasing. Fat Grafting Though medically-produced dermal fillers can be used to fill deep lines and wrinkles on the face beautifully, Dr. Burgess may also use the patient’s own excess fat deposits to add volume. In this procedure, small amounts of excess fat are liposuctioned out of carefully chosen sites (i.e. abdomen or thighs) and then lipoinjected into specific areas of the face, providing a more youthful visage. ThermiSmooth® (face) and ThermiEyes® Non-invasive, ThermiSmooth® is performed using a specially designed temperature controlled hand piece. The hand piece gently heats the skin’s surface using dermal heating, which creates collagen stimulation. This provides a smoothing and lifting effect slowly over months. ThermiEyes® is used to treat areas around the eye that need a lift or that has crepey skin. It can also treat the forehead, cheeks, neck and lines around the mouth. There is no downtime for these treatments and can typically be done as a series of 3-6 treatments.

• Body Procedures

  CoolSculpting® CoolSculpting is a breakthrough, non-invasive procedure that uses cooling technology to eliminate fat without surgery. This FDA approved technique will help to reduce fat in problem areas that may be resistant to reduction through exercise and diet. Liposuction and VASER® Liposuction Liposuction is a frequently-performed procedure to remove deposits of fat and tissue that cannot be lost through traditional diet and exercise. Liposuction has many uses, can be performed in many areas, and may be combined with other surgical techniques to achieve the desired result. Tummy Tuck Excess skin around the abdomen following pregnancy, aging, a dramatic weight loss, or after bariatric surgery, can be removed and tightened with a tummy tuck procedure. This procedure may also incorporate liposuction. Mommy Makeover The birth of a child is one of the most joyous events in a woman’s life. This joy, however, can be slightly tempered by the effects that pregnancy and nursing can have on a woman’s body. A physique that was once slender may now exhibit some loose skin and a lack of tone. Arm Lift An arm lift, or brachioplasty, is ideal for removing the “batwing” effect seen when a patient exhibits excess skin hanging from their upper arms. The procedure may combine liposuction and excision to achieve the desired result. Thigh Lift Improving contours of the inner or outer thigh can be achieved with a thigh lift. ThermiVa® Possibly, the most exciting addition to our office is ThermiVa® for treatment for the intimate female zone. This is used for vaginal rejuvenation and can help address changes in vaginal health often caused after childbirth (vaginal laxity) and natural aging. It may help with modest stress incontinence. Treatments use radiofrequency to gently deliver heat to the external labia and inner vagina. This helps reduce and tighten the tissue by rejuvenating the collagen. There is no downtime and is typically done as a series of 3. ThermiTight® ThermiTight® is a non-surgical, minimally-invasive option that gives women an alternate to having surgery. For the right candidate, a small probe using radiofrequency technology is used under the skin to create significant tightening. ThermiTight® is a great option for women looking for an alternative to having breast lift surgery. It is ideal for patients who are not large-breasted and also who need a minimal amount of a lift. ThermiTight® can also tighten areas such as the neck, jowls, abdomen, arms and bra strap fat. This is typically done as a single treatment.

• Procedures for Men

  Male Body Contouring The most requested surgical procedures for our male patients are abdominal surgery and facial procedures. Sometimes even with a consistent workout regimen, men can still hold excess fatty tissue in the love handle area. CoolSculpting® is a non-invasive fat reduction treatment that can improve fatty areas for around a 20-30 % improvement. VASER® Liposuction can also be a great option for this area, as the fat is removed permanently, allowing for your clothes to fit better. For those who have had massive weight loss, sometimes a tummy tuck or abdominoplasty may be considered. This is a major surgical procedure, where the abdomen is liposuctioned, the abdominal muscles are tightened and excess skin is permanently removed. Facial Plastic Surgery for Men Facial procedures are normally done to help refresh gentlemen and give them a more youthful, natural looking appearance. Some men choose to have eyelid surgery, to remove excess sagging skin from their eyelids that makes them appear tired. This can have a nice, natural result that is sometimes followed with Botox®, an injectable medication that works to soften frown lines between the brows. Your body may be in great shape but every time you lose weight it also makes your face looker thinner, gaunt, and older. Sculptra® Aesthetic can add facial fullness after several treatments. Wrinkles can be treated with Juvederm® and other facial fillers. Others still are concerned with fatty tissue under the chin area. Ultherapy® can offer a smooth result that can help define the jaw line and face. Sometimes a facelift may be considered to rejuvenate the facial features by repositioning the tissue and removing excess skin. • Fire and Ice

  We have always thought that layering treatments will get a better result anywhere on the body. Our Fire and Ice treatments combine two great in-office procedures to help stubborn areas without surgery. Patients struggling with persistent pockets of fatty tissue and who do not want the worry of recovery with surgery, have experienced great results with CoolSculpting. Even though CoolSculpting is effective for fat reduction, it does not improve the skin quality. Now we are able to offer ThermiSmooth treatments along with the CoolSculpting to address both concerns in a single treatment! The Fire is ThermiSmooth. This will use radiofrequency (RF) heat to help tighten the skin. The Ice is CoolSculpting, freezing the unwanted areas of fat. All Encompassed Body Contouring without the Surgery Your first treatment will combine both procedures with ThermiSmooth first to heat the area, and then CoolSculpting afterwards to freeze the fat. Patients may come back weekly, or every other week, to finish up with ThermiSmooth in a series of treatments.   Wedding Makeovers

  Are you a bride-to-be? Do you have a special occasion coming? At Burgess Plastic Surgery, we want to help you look your best on your big day! Come in for a consultation with Dr. Burgess and she can help guide you towards your cosmetic goals. NEW: Please also refer to our Wedding Procedures Timeline for all treatments prior to your big day! We highly recommend visiting us well in advance before your special event, as we want you to have plenty of time to recover from your procedure. For instance, if you are thinking about breast augmentation, you would want a minimum of 6 months to heal and settle before your wedding. If liposuction is on your wish list, come visit us early so that the swelling will improve before your gown fitting. For those brides or bridesmaids considering injectables such as Botox® or fillers like Restylane or Juvederm®, we advise having your initial injections a least a couple months prior, so you may fully heal and still have time for touch-ups, if needed. For brides in their 40s, 50s and beyond, or possibly mothers of the bride, you may consider facial cosmetic surgery prior to the wedding. Some choose to have a facelift, to make them look refreshed and relaxed for the ceremony, or possibly eye surgery to remove sagging skin that tends to make people look tired and worn out. These types of surgeries should be done at least 6 months to a year prior to your event. Sculptra® Aesthetic can also be a fantastic option for women mid-thirties and up, who wish to rejuvenate their appearance, without surgery. This product does take multiple treatments spaced approximately one month apart but will last two years. However, Voluma can immediately rejuvenate the lost volume in the face and can last up to two years also. Please schedule your consultation early enough to ensure optimal results post treatment. • Botox

  Botox®Cosmetic, Jeuveau™, and Dysport®(Neurotoxin) in Portland Patients who struggle with early signs of aging may be apprehensive to undergo a surgical procedure and instead may turn to non-invasive treatments. Botox® Cosmetic, Jeauveau and Dysport are medications used for the treatment of moderate to severe frown lines between patient’s eyebrows, and other areas of the face. In her Portland, OR area practice, Dr. Elisa Burgess offers neurotoxin injections to patients who wish to relax the signs of aging, but in a gentle, less invasive manner. Am I an ideal candidate for Neurotoxin Injections? Neurotoxin treatments are one of the most popular non-surgical cosmetic procedures in the world. Patients often select neurotoxin treatment as a means to correct frown lines in between the eyebrows (glabellar area) and around the eyes (crow’s feet), and practitioners use it for forehead lines or for specific areas with excessive sweating. Patients who receive neurotoxin treatments are usually between 18 and 65 years of age. Patients who have an infection at the proposed injection site, or have an allergy or hypersensitivity to the toxins used in either Botox® or Jeuveau may not be ideal candidates for treatment. Patients should not be pregnant or nursing. What will the Neurotoxin treatment be like? Prior to a neurotoxin treatment, the patient and one of our our trained providers will carefully select the injection sites. Through small injections directly over the overactive muscles, the neurotoxin will work to relax the muscles that cause frown lines, while still allowing you to show facial expressions. The procedure takes only a few minutes to perform and, normally, no anesthesia is required. The result is a more rested, youthful appearance that can last three or four months. Repeat treatments are usually required. What should I expect after my Botox® Cosmetic treatment? The patient can expect little to no downtime following neurotoxin treatment but should avoid blood thinning medications such as Aspirin, Ibuprofen and fish oils, alcohol, and remain upright for a few hours. We recommend no massage in the area for seven days, and no vigorous exercise the day of treatment. Many patients begin to notice a softening of their wrinkles anywhere from 24 hours to five days from initial treatment. Full results may be evaluated two weeks following the procedure. Though some side effects, such as bruising, redness, nausea, or headache are possible, the patient should notify Dr. Burgess of any severe or unusual side effects.

Dermaplaning – $75 Using a special scalpel blade, we are able to safely remove the top most layer of dead skin cells and bacteria along with any fine, vellus hair. • Chemical Peel

  Many superficial skin problems, like a dull complexion, sun damage, or fine wrinkles can be treated through a non-invasive chemical peel treatment. Dr. Elisa Burgess is pleased to offer chemical peels with very little or no downtime to patients in her Lake Oswego plastic surgery practice. Some of the top benefits of chemical peels include: Removes the outer layers of skin to treat surface issues Treats a variety of superficial skin problems Can be formulated for each patient’s skin Am I an ideal candidate for a chemical peel treatment? Patients often elect chemical peel treatments as a means to correct many surface skin issues like a rough, dry or dull complexion, poor skin texture, acne, and blemishes. The chemical peel formulas, which can be used on a variety of skin types, include beta and alpha-hydroxy acids such as glycolic, lactic and fruit acids. The treatment can also be performed on individuals of varying ages. What will the chemical peel be like? Like other non-invasive cosmetic treatments, a chemical peel is performed in a short amount of time–light peels can be completed in about 15 minutes while deeper peels may require 45 minutes to one hour. Before the chemical peel, the skin is thoroughly cleansed. Then, the solution is applied to the face, neck, or chest. To achieve optimal results, several sessions may be required. Portland plastic surgeon Dr. Burgess will often recommend a specific skin care regimen in addition to the chemical peel. What should I expect following a chemical peel in Portland? As mentioned, for most chemical peels, little or no downtime is required. The patient should, however, expect temporary flaking, dryness of the skin, and possible redness as fresher skin emerges following treatment. No ointment is required, though patients may need to wear sun block. The patient’s normal routine can be resumed immediately. Epionce ‘Lunch-Time’ Glycolic Peel- $86 Glycolic acid is a gentle AHA acid and is one of the mildest skin peels available with very little to no downtime. Great for all skin types, glycolic acid provides exfoliation that fades fine lines, wrinkles, blemishes, sun-damage and acne scars. It’s the perfect choice for those who want a skin peel with little to no discomfort, side effects or downtime. SkinMedica® Vitalize Peel – $179 The Vitalize peel is the only superficial peel suitable for all skin tones and complexions. It includes a unique blend of peeling agents: AHA, BHA, resorcinol, and retinoic acid. We recommend a series of these peels to see best results. Includes little downtime. SkinMedica® Rejuvenize Peel – $350 The Rejuvenize peel is to help treat more moderate to severe skin imperfections. Patients can expect peeling starting around 48-72 hours after application, and peeling can last 3-7 days
